Jill Spear Fine Art

I am honored to have my work included in November's Resist exhibit at Astoria Visual Art

____________

Inspired by the texture and essence of life on earth, I form concept, loving the moment when the physical process of painting begins. I pour, manipulate and layer the pigment, watching images emerge, making choices about when to push toward my vision and when to encourage pigment to flow unchecked, creating the unexpected, until I've reached that decisive moment when I know my work and play is complete. The completed painting documents my creative journey and joyfully celebrates life.

Born with a desire to share a boundless awe and appreciation of the world, painting is one of many ways I express thought and emotion. What's so great about painting as an avenue of expression? It's extremely sensory with limitless resource for inspiration and a potentially strong vehicle of communication.

Think about the sensory quality of painting as an avenue of expression. I draw upon personal inspiration, creating a visual experience through physical action. Even better than viewing the finished product--I'm present as the final image emerges.

I'm inspired by the sort of tangible beauty you find in nature, the intangible beauty you find in the indomitable human spirit, the beauty of a moment of reflection on the social and cultural status quo. And to find that inspiration, I simply look around and within.

Choosing to complete, sign and exhibit a painting in a public space is an important part of the creative process. The public interacts with the painting, whether or not it is noticed, whether or not it is appreciated. By inviting the viewer into the dialogue, I have completed the creative process.

Thank you Marjorie  Vernelle for sharing your gift of writing with the artist's of Colorado Springs.
